Two Trick Ponies
I think one of the best things I am doing for my horses right now is playing games. After we ride, they get bathed, then while they dry, I do some dumb thing with them. What we are all learning is to stack skills. I taught Pepsi to come pick me up on the mounting block. Then I taught him to drop me off and pick me up from the running board of the trailer. He was pretty proud of doing this, but for anyone but an old fat woman (me) it might not be the most useful skill. Today's


How Little Can You Do?
I recently took a client's three year old stallion with all of sixteen rides to a dressage lesson. I don't really know what promted this act of genius. The colt had never been hauled. The venue was a haul-in situation into an arena horses often find a little scary. The colt was just sort of understanding go-stop-turn, but I thought it would be interesting to play the least advanced end of the spectrum that day, so along goes young stud-muffin.
